Practical Productivity: Week 1 — Clarity Creates Momentum
One of the hardest parts of running a small business isn’t lack of effort — it’s deciding where to put that effort.
Most of us wake up each day with long mental lists: emails to answer, products to create, orders to ship, marketing to plan, people to follow up with. Everything feels important, and because of that, it’s easy to get stuck or spread too thin.
That’s why we’re starting this 12-week series with clarity.
In Practical Productivity, Monisha Longacre reminds us that productivity doesn’t begin with action — it begins with decision-making. When we’re clear about what matters most right now, forward motion becomes possible.
As Monisha often says,
“When everything is a priority, nothing truly is.”
Why Clarity Matters
Clarity helps us quiet the noise. It allows us to stop reacting to everything around us and instead move intentionally toward what actually supports our business and our lives.
Without clarity, we tend to default to busywork — answering emails, tweaking things endlessly, doing what feels urgent instead of what’s meaningful. With clarity, even small actions feel purposeful.
Monisha frames it simply:
“You don’t need a perfect plan. You need a clear next step.”
That idea is at the heart of this series.
This Week’s Focus
Instead of trying to overhaul everything, we’re keeping Week 1 intentionally small and manageable.
Your focus this week:
👉 Choose one priority.
Not five. Not a full to-do list. Just one thing that, if moved forward, would make your business feel lighter, clearer, or more aligned.
It could be:
sending a follow-up email
listing a product
organizing one system
blocking time for creative work
making a decision you’ve been avoiding
Then take one small action toward it.
Monisha puts it this way:
“Momentum is built through movement, not perfection.”
What This Series Is (and Isn’t)
This isn’t about hustling harder or squeezing more into your days. It’s about working in a way that feels sustainable and supportive — especially for those of us juggling businesses, families, and responsibilities.
Over the next 12 weeks, we’ll continue to focus on:
one idea at a time
one action per week
steady forward movement
Later this spring, Monisha will be joining us to speak to the group and will also offer an optional in-depth workshop for those who want to dig deeper and build systems tailored to their own work and lives. More details will be shared soon.
For now, start here.
Choose one thing.
Take one step.
And let clarity do its quiet work.
